How close to my wedding should I book the wedding cake?
To make sure you don’t miss out it is a good idea to make initial contact with us as soon as possible; we suggest you make an appointment when you’ve booked your venue.

How do I order a wedding cake?
The first step is to contact us to book a free, no obligation consultation.

What can I expect at my free consultation?
We have hundreds of photos that you can use for inspiration and you are welcome to bring along any design ideas you have for your dream cake. We have a display room with over a dozen wedding cakes on show so you can get a feel for the size of your finished cake.
We will then draw up your dream design and give you a quote. There is no obligation to place an order.

Can we taste all your cakes at our consultation?
Sorry, no. To keep our prices affordable we do not provide a full “tasting” as part of the standard consultation. You can however make a booking for a combined consultation and cake tasting which includes a variety of the most popular cake flavours, fillings, home made chocolates (used as wedding favours), beverages, and biscuits. Cake tastings are $20 per person.

How do I order a wedding cake if I’m currently overseas?
Contact us (or have a New Zealand friend or relative do it for you) to make an initial inquiry. You can pick out the design you want when you return/arrive in New Zealand or you can send us pictures/instructions directly.

Where are you located?
We are located in Waiwhetu, Lower Hutt. If you are interested in getting a wedding cake please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation and we will send you detailed instructions on how to find us.

Where is your blog/Facebook page/Instagram account?
You can find us on Facebook: Brinkel’s Cake Art or Instagram: Brinkelscakeart

Do you make cakes for birthdays and corporate events?
Yes, we can create a customized cake for any purpose.

Are the pictures on this website the only designs available?
No, we have hundreds of designs to choose from and we are happy to work with any ideas you have.

I’ve found a cake I like, but it was done by an overseas cake decorator, can you create something similar?
Sure, we can reinvent it and create your perfect cake.

Do you supply flowers and/or sugar figurines so people can decorate their own cake?
No; we specialise in creating beautiful, personalised wedding cakes.

Can you make a plain cake so my florist can put fresh flowers on it?
Yes, we can ice plain cakes suitable for fresh flowers but we can not take responsibility for items added to the cake by another party.
Most flowers shown on this website are made of icing.

What is the most popular flavour?
The most popular flavours are our Chocolate or Mud cake.

If I have a three tier cake can I have three different flavours?
Yes, you can have each tier of cake a different flavour (and if you have a fruit cake it doesn’t have to be on the bottom)

When will you bake my wedding cake?
Apart from fruit cake all our cakes are baked fresh, as close to your wedding date as possible.

My relative would like to make a fruit cake for our wedding, can you decorate it for us?
Yes, we are happy to ice and decorate your fruit cake, however we do not ice soft cakes (chocolate, banana etc) made by other people.

Is it possible to keep the top tier for our first anniversary (or first child’s christening)?
Yes, if the top tier is a traditional fruit cake it can last several years with suitable storage. Soft cakes like chocolate and banana are not suitable for long term storage.

Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, a deposit is required at least a month prior to your wedding date.

Can I pick up my cake? Can you deliver?
Yes, most brides and grooms either pick up their cakes, or get a friend or family member to do it on their behalf. We can deliver to the Hutt Valley, Wellington, Kapiti, Porirua, and the Wairarapa. There is an additional charge for delivery based on the location of your reception. We can give you a quote for this at your free consultation.
